This free course is designed to help nonprofits engage people 50+ in compelling service opportunities. STATE OF THE BLACK UNION 2008

Artifact is wrapping up production on the motion graphics package for the “9th Annual State of The Black Union,” including show opening title sequences and supporting graphics. These special broadcasts are hosted by Tavis Smiley of the Tavis Smiley Group and will air on the TV One network later in ‘08. The programs were executive produced by Chepell Chase and Anthony Jamison of Shoot Em Up Film Media Inc. of New York.

In April ’08, Artifact director Julie Goldstein was an Animation Juror for the 17th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival. Also this spring, she sat on the committee that gave out the University of the Arts‘ Blondeau Award.

Artifact also attended the KAFI animation conference in Kalamazoo, MI in May ’07 and the first Platform International Animation Festival in Portland, OR in July ’07.



TEDDY P. BRAINS WINS AWARD

We are proud to report that “The Adventures of Teddy P. Brains” won the Kids First award from the Coalition For Quality Children’s Media.

Teddy was also shown at several festivals in ‘07, including the San Diego Black Film Festival, and the Black Harvest International Film and Television Festival.

Teddy was also featured in an article in the Baltimore Sun at the end of 2007.

“The Adventures of Teddy P. Brains” was produced by Fourth and One Productions, with Animation Director Julie Goldstein (Artifact) and Animation Producer Erika Mijlin (Artifact), and distributed by Clarendon Entertainment. All animation for the one-hour pilot episode was completed at Artifact Pictures’ Philadelphia studio.

Artifact Pictures was recently featured in the Philadelphia Daily News in conjunction with the release of Teddy P. Brains. The article titled “Philly Studio, Tapping Local Talent, Created DVD” was featured in the ‘YO’ section of the paper is linked to an article featuring Teddy’s creators Joe Lewis and Eugene Haynes – “Brainy Black & Pint-Sized, An Animated, Globetrotting Role Model is Born”. The article is currently distributed by McClatchy-Tribune Information Services and is a feed to entertainment news such as Cineplex.com.

Artifact is proud to announce that “The Adventures of Teddy P. Brains: Journey into the Rain Forest” is now available in a wide DVD release. DVDs are available for purchase on the show’s website : teddypbrainstv.com , and also at retailers like Amazon.com(paired with ‘Schoolhouse Rock’!), Barnes & Noble, Circuit City, Best Buy, Blockbuster and for rental at Netflix. The show was produced by Fourth and One Productions, with Animation Director Julie Goldstein (Artifact) and Animation Producer Erika Mijlin (Artifact), and distributed by Clarendon Entertainment. All animation for the one-hour pilot episode was completed at Artifact Pictures’ Philadelphia studio.

Educational Content for Teddy P. Brains

Artifact collaborated with Fourth and One Productions to design, animate, and produce supplemental educational content for The Adventures of Teddy P. Brains, an animated program targeting 5-8 year-olds. Using D’Artagnan, one of the show’s main characters, as well as live action dancers and short interviews with young viewers, we created several fun educational segments in the form of True & False questions, Dance Numbers, Tongue Twisters, and Quizzes about the rainforest and the ecosystem.
