Artifact had a very dynamic, eventful year in 2008 – here are a few highlights…
In 2008, Artifact :
• COMPLETED two new documentaries
[The View From Amber Street and Virtual Memory]
• INITIATED a curated film program
• PRODUCED AND DIRECTED an original play
• RECEIVED A GRANT for our original animation project, When I Was 10
[Art & Change Grant, Leeway Foundation]
In addition, we are currently developing projects with a variety of different producers, including documentary work with Mothers In Charge, and animation and documentary projects for ‘Music Is Our Oil’.
Also on the horizon :
• a new division for personal event videos [Profiles of Great Lives], AND
• a newly invigorated set of training offerings, including one-on-one training and small group workshops on a variety of production and animation topics – learn more here.

We are proud to announce that Artifact has been selected as the recipient of an Athena PowerLink Advisory Panel by the Delaware Valley chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners.
Currently, Artifact partner Lisa Fisher is producing a series of health and medical webcasts for Healthology.com, one of the leading producers and distributors of physician-generated health and medical information on the internet.
The documentary From Philadelphia to the Front, an Artifact Pictures co-production with producers Judy Gelles and Marianne Bernstein, has been touring the film festival circuit. Some recent highlights include :

Sculptor and installation artist Steve Donegan enlisted Artifact to generate a 3D visualization of his proposed public art project at the new wing of the Philadelphia International Airport. The sculpture would consist of large scale perforated copper panels installed in a rotunda. Artifact modeled both the space and the proposed installation, based on the artist’s specifications and the airport architect’s elevation drawings.

Artifact partner Julie Goldstein has been teaching computer animation courses at The University of Pennsylvania. In the fall of 2006, Penn hosted a visit from world-renowned animators The Brothers Quay, who answered students’ questions and discussed their most recent feature, The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes (2006).
Artifact Pictures is proud to announce : The 2006 World Premiere of “The Adventures of Teddy P. Brains” a solo screening at the Harlem International Film Festival, Saturday, October 7, 11am!

Brains” is a new animated program targeting 5 to 8 year olds that follows the adventures of Teddy and his cousin Tempest Wits as they seek knowledge and fun on their missions back in time, through space and around the world. Teddy P. Brains is created and produced by Fourth and One Productions, and co-produced by Artifact Pictures, who provided all animation for the show.

Artifact Pictures and Fourth & One Productions recently presented an overview of the 3D animation process at Philadelphia’s famous Franklin Institute, using examples from their recently completed pilot episode of “The Adventures of Teddy P. Brains”, a new children’s program. As part of the Cartoon Network-sponsored ‘Animation’ exhibit, the presentation covered all the steps involved in creating an animated show – from concept development and character illustrations, to 3D modeling, animation and compositing.

Artifact is nearing the close of production on the pilot episode of The Adventures of Teddy P. Brains, produced by Fourth & One Productions. This new 3D children’s program follows a couple of kids on their knowledge-seeking missions through time and space. The show was modeled and animated by Artifact using Maya and a unique two-dimensional rendering style.
